Josh Hinds’s answer to How should I raise a 12-year-old girl to be a successful entrepreneur?

Here are a few ideas which might be helpful. By the way, my own interest in entrepreneurship began when at 15 years old I had the opportunity to work in and be around our family business (in startup phase at the time). To your question, here are a few things you might consider.

1) While it’s true you can’t ensure they’ll latch onto entrepreneurship, but you can certainly encourage it :-)

2) encourage them to actually start a business themselves. It doesn’t have to be “grown up business” perse’, it could be something as simple as going door to door, selling candy (I actually setup a nephew to do just this). Here’s an idea of how simple that could be: buy candy at a certain price at the store. Figure price, and what your child would say about the product when going door to door. Showing them how to pull out a set amount of what is sold to buy more product. The point is to get started. Also spend time with them once a week to go over their results and offer advice if need be. The point isn’t as much the business that’s chosen (assuming they enjoy it on some level). Rather it’s getting into it and starting, as they experience success they’ll more easily build an appreciation for entrepreneurship (that’s my experience anyway).

3) find various articles (especially “success” type stories) dealing with aspects of entrepreneurship, have your youngster read it and spend a little time discussing the ideas shared. Steer the conversation away from just looking at the stories/articles you two discussed from a point of being in “awe” and asking instead how can their results be replicated or learned from to some degree. Such as if any idea worked, how might something similar be applied in their own business.

Those are a few random ideas that come to mind. Hopefully you’ll find them helpful :-)
